- Toyota Landcruiser
- Toyota Corolla
We offer a range of small, medium and large cars, most with air-conditioning. We also offer 4×4’s or car / minibus with an English speaking driver should you not want to drive yourself.
Delivery and collection of the car is arranged by us, and your car will be delivered to / collected from your hotel, an airport or another pre-arranged destination should that better suit your itinerary. A charge is made for some of the more remote destinations we feature when car hire is for less than 7 days.
Driving in Morocco is lots of fun, offers independence and flexibility, and is perfectly safe. The roads are mainly very well made, although some of the more remote hotels do require driving on a piste (rough track). Some are more comfortably reached in a 4×4, and our staff will advise you on the terrain and recommend a suitable car type for your itinerary. Road signs are in French as well as Arabic, and a large scale road map is essential when visiting more than two destinations. We will provide a complimentary road map with all of our holidays that include car hire.
A full driving license is required for any rental, although an International license is not necessary. There is no age limit with the car hire companies we use, and no charge for extra drivers providing all those who wish to drive produce their driving license when taking delivery of the car.
If there are just two of you travelling, an inexpensive group A car will take you to almost anywhere in Morocco. Larger cars obviously have more power and greater comfort and the group C has the added benefit of air-conditioning which is preferable from April/May till the end of September/October. Roof racks can be supplied with some models, and child seats are available on request although we do recommend you bring your own if possible.
4 X 4 Car Hire
A Toyota RAV 4 (4-seater) or Toyota Land Cruiser (6-seater) can add another dimension to your holiday as they will enable you to get off some of the main roads and explore small villages and hamlets, mountain tracks and desert pistes. They are both air-conditioned and are great fun to drive, but are really not necessary for getting between e.g. Marrakech, Essaouira and the mountains.
4×4’s are recommended when staying in the more remote areas in the south e.g. Sawadi and Jardins de Skoura, as it is necessary to cross the river bed (usually dry) to get to these hotels. They are reachable in a smaller car, but tyre, wheel and windscreen damage when driving off the tarmac roads will not be covered by the car hire companies.
Car hire with driver
The experienced drivers we use are extremely skilful, careful, and speak fluent French as well as pretty good English. Although they are not guides, most are very knowledgeable about their country, and will be able to take you off the beaten track to places you may well miss if driving yourself. All of the staff here at Complete Morocco prefer to drive ourselves, but for those clients who are nervous drivers, or prefer to sit back, relax and enjoy the view then our drivers are excellent value for money.
The driver will make his own sleeping and eating arrangements at each location, but is at your disposal for the duration of your car hire.
The driver will cost an additional £35 per day on top of your car hire, and you will still be liable for all fuel costs.
General points
When taking delivery of your car, you should check the fuel gauge to ensure that the tank is full, that the tyres are in good condition and that there is a spare tyre and a jack. Please also check that the car is in an acceptable condition BEFORE signing the contract.
Road maps are NOT supplied with the car.
Please note that no refund is made for the repairs to or replacement of tyres (punctures caused by use on track, nails, glass etc).
Fuel costs
Your car will be delivered with a full tank of petrol, payable directly on delivery (Cash in Dirhams – not a credit/debit card). You will then return the car empty. This method avoids delays and unnecessary complications over fuel when releasing the vehicle.

Trains and buses
These, of course, have the advantage of bringing you closer to the daily life of Morocco, as well as potentially being rather cheaper than the private transfers on the longer routes.
Please note: It is NOT possible to book either the train or the bus outside of Morocco, or much before the date of travel. As such, you may ask your hotel to help you book the tickets when you arrive as we are unable to pre-book them for you.
Trains are operated by ONCF, coaches by an ONCF subsidiary -Supratours – it is possible to book one ticket for a route that covers both rail and coach
