Ourika Valley accommodation Ourika Valley

A picturesque drive from Marrakech brings you to this lush river valley, in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, with typical Berber hamlets of baked clay and stones.

Ourika Valley, due to its many waterfalls and several attractions, is a very popular day-trip destination from Marrakech. Berber people who practice a traditional way of life inhabit the region. Despite its proximity to Marrakech, it is still considered relatively unspoilt.

There are weekly Berber souks (Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, of varying sizes), which are interesting for their rural life and trade. The nearby farms grow the grow herbs and flowers for the perfumers and herbalists who sell their exotic perfumes in the Medina.

The Toubkal National Park begins a little way South of the valley.
