Merzouga
Er Rachidia is a town in Southeastern Morocco on the edge of the desert, about an hour or so North of Erfoud. It has some monuments, Ksars and Palaces, and its people are friendly and hospitable. You can stop for a visit if driving through on your way to Merzouga from Midelt (or vis-versa), but it is not really worth a detour if you are doing a full circuit of the South.
There is an airport in er Rachidia, which we have used on the odd occasion for clients with limited time to visit the dunes, or who did not wish to drive. Flights are limited to one or two a week from Casablanca, and in our opinion it is a shame to miss out on the spectacular scenery, fun and adventures of travelling to the dunes by road.
