Tigmi - Briefly

“Tigmi, meaning ‘my house’ in Berber, really does feel like being home from home.  With its beautiful gardens and courtyards, smiling, attentive staff, comfortable bedrooms, peace, tranquility and truly amazing panoramic views, there is something very, very special about Tigmi that I can’t quite put my finger on….. “

Tigmi - Completely

It is not just the simplistic beauty of the rustically rural surroundings, the panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains, fields, Kasbahs and Marrakech a little way off in the distance, or the beautiful gardens and courtyards bursting at the seams with coulourful bougainvillea.

It is not just the tempting swimming pools on a hot Moroccan day, the most comfortable bedrooms to be found for miles around, the simple yet delicious Moroccan cuisine served daily in the restaurant or on the terraces, or the friendly local staff who (mostly) don’t speak English but (universally) do care that you enjoy your stay, and will always do their utmost to ensure you have all that you need to achieve this end, albeit in a typically laid-back Moroccan style.

It is not just the gentle noise of the village of Tagadert getting on with its daily life, the shepherds tending to their sheep and goats, taking them off over the fields in search of new grazing, the chickens scratching around for grass, seeds and worms outside the mud walls of the hotel gardens, the women fetching wood for their fires and the children playing football at the end of the school day.

It is not just the braying of a nearby donkey, or the haunting call to prayer from the village Mosque, the generous helpings of peaceful tranquility a mere 30 minutes from the madness that is Marrakech, before the hundreds (maybe even thousands!) of birds come home to roost at dusk in Tigmi’s main courtyard, creating the most amazing and incredibly deafening noise imaginable.

“For me it is all of these things, and much, much more.  Tigmi is special, but you really have to stay here and experience it for yourself – then maybe you can put your finger on why it is special to you……”

Tigmi sits proudly on the brow of a hill, surveying the rest of the Berber hamlet of Tagadert.  It is situated in the Haouz plain, half way between Marrakech and the magnificent snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas mountains, just 17 miles from the madness of the Medieval city, yet a million miles away in the peaceful serenity you will discover here.
