Riad Moucharabieh - Briefly
Just inside the Medina walls, close to the entrance into the city at Bab (Gate) Doukkala lays the enchanting Riad Moucharabieh. Although just a stone-throw from the one of the busiest trading alleys in the Medina, once inside the atmosphere is incredibly calm and tranquil. With beautiful courtyards, gurgling fountains, lovely roof terraces, authentic architecture and décor, and friendly, attentive staff, you can be excused for forgetting you are in the midst of one of the most hectic cities in the world.
Riad Moucharabieh - Completely
Comprising of two adjacent Riads (Delacroix and Matisse), the Riad Moucharabieh has been lovingly restored by owner Didier Vicaire who bought the first house (Wing Delacroix) in 1997. With meticulous attention to detail and using only local craftsmen, Didier has created a warm, welcoming guesthouse full of authentic touches, from the zelige (mosaic) tiles to the Tadelakt (polished plaster) walls, the carved cedar wood to the intricately chiselled plasterwork. Incorporating the library, dining and lounge areas, patio with Jacuzzi and shaded roof terrace, the Delacroix wing has four guest rooms and the suite.
With the more recent addition of the Matisse wing, guests now benefit from a swimming pool – a most welcome feature during the heat of summer! It also has salons and a sun terrace, and four rooms, slightly more modern in style than those in the original wing.
