Riad al Moussika - Briefly

This amazing ‘Palace’ of the forma Berber Pasha of Marrakech (T'hami El Glaoui, or “Lord of the Atlas”) has been lovingly restored to its Moorish Andalusian style with painstaking attention to detail, adhering strictly to the use of local craftsmen.  With striking black and white Carrara marble for the chequered floors, beautifully carved cedar wood ceilings, stunningly painted Zouak doors and furniture, and scrolling curls of carved plasterwork, the Riad al Moussika is a work of art – a true masterpiece in its own right.

Riad al Moussika - Completely

The Riad Al Moussika is close to the Jemaa el Fna (main square), Koutoubia Mosque and souks (10 minute walk), making it an ideal location for sightseeing and exploring the Medina on foot.  With it beautiful courtyard patio, relaxing roof terraces, cosy sitting rooms and spacious and inviting loggias (open sitting rooms overlooking the patios) decked with armchairs and coffee tables, there is no shortage of comfortable, quiet spots to sit and rest after a hard day of bartering in the souks.

Its patio courtyards - one with the thirteen metre long Andalusian style swimming pool (for summer use only) - boast a huge cascading bougainvillea, two sky-scraping cypress trees, and orange and palm trees.  Together with the flowered and palmed roof terraces with cushioned chairs, sun beds and shady pergolas, its hard to believe you are in the centre of one of the most hectic cities in the world!

The Riad has a library with books principally on Moroccan history and art, a music room with a state-of-the-art hi-fi system, impressive and perfectly tuned ‘Pleyel’ art deco grand piano, comfortable chairs and a fireplace for chilly evenings, and two dining rooms, each different in design.  One has a long cedar wood table that seats 12 people, and the other a typical Moroccan dining room with sofas, lavish carpets and cushions and small, oriental tables.
