La Sultana Marrakech - Completely

La Sultana is in an area of the Medina called the Kasbah, which is to the south of the Jemaa el Fna square.  It sits just outside the walls of the Saadian Tombs (these can be seen from the roof terrace), is 100 meters from both the Royal and the El Badi Palaces, and 15 minutes on foot from the main square and souks.

It has a wonderful mix of traditional workmanship (chiselled plasterwork, zelige (mosaic) tiles, carved cedar wood, polished ‘Tadelakt’ plaster walls and hand painted Zouak ceilings and doors), imposing antique and bespoke furniture, and an impressive collection of paintings and objects d’art which bring Northern and Southern Africa together in an explosion of elegance and sophistication,

The stunning ionised swimming pool has solar heating and a counter-current machine for resistance swimming.  With comfortable sun loungers around the pool as well as on the rooftop solarium, ample opportunity is given to sunbathe.

There are various panoramic roof terraces with striking views looking over the medina with pergolas and Caidal tents, and with outdoor ‘air-conditioning’ during the hot summer months (an atomiser with a very fine, cooling spray).  There is a lounge bar with a very unusual view into the pool (the architect was definitely a man!), a small gym, Jacuzzi, Hammam and spa. Other facilities include a library with books, CD’s and DVD’s, and a shop.  A laundry service is also available.

There are 28 individually decorated, sound-proofed and air-conditioned rooms and suites, some with private terrace or balcony, all with discreet modern amenities and the comfort and charm expected of one of the “Great hotels of the world”.  Antique furniture and works of art are present in each, some have the most amazing, intricately painted (Zouak) or sculpted ceilings, and all have en-suite bathrooms with Moroccan marble, Tadelakt and hammered copper.  For those who are partial to liberal luminosity, we would recommend a deluxe suite with private balcony situated in the swimming pool Riad.

La Sultana is fully licenced, and benefits from hugely talented French and Moroccan chefs who prepare refined meals in the dining room.   With Moroccan delicacies, Mediterranean classics and Eastern delights, there is enough diversity to excite even the most discerning of palates.  Breakfast is included, and lunch, dinner and 24-hour room service are available daily.
