Dar Zitoune - Briefly

Dar Zitoune, meaning ‘House of Olives’ is in the heart of the beautiful Souss region in southern Morocco, just 5 minutes from the pink-walled city of Taroudant.  It has Berber architecture and décor, 4 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens shaded with olive, palm and citrus trees, and a gorgeous green tiled pool, designed in the keyhole shape of a Moorish gate.  Enjoy the local Berber hospitality, bask in the African sun and enjoy the delicious local cuisine in daytime temperatures that rarely dip below 22 degrees Celsius, even in winter!

Dar Zitoune - Completely

The Dar Zitoune is a lovely boutique hotel, built in Berber style with thick Pise walls around its perimeter.  Within the grounds, the main building holds the huge reception lounge with an impressive domed ceiling and huge chandelier, bar and salons with blazing open fires for cooler winter evenings, and the large restaurant.

Outside, the beautiful terraces with comfortable sofas and chairs are perfect for relaxing during the day, enjoying an aperitif on a warm summer evening, or al fresco dining, and the inviting pool is surrounded by comfortable sun loungers and parasols.

The extensive gardens truly are stunning, and filled with orange, olive and banana trees, and lemon trees with the largest fruits I have ever seen!  Flowers, shrubs, and tortoises abound, colourful bougainvillea, impressive date palms – something different to be seen at every turn of your head.

Hammam and spa

Dar Zitoune has a small spa with traditional Hammam, sauna and heated Jacuzzi.  There are a choice of massage treatments available, all around 300 dh each.  Facials, manicures, pedicures, other skin care treatments, epilation and Henna tattoos are also offered.

A picnic lunch can be provided if requested the day before.

The accommodation is in bungalow style buildings scattered throughout the gardens, reached by little winding pathways that are softly lit with lanterns to show you the way at night.

All of the rooms and suites are traditionally styled, and have Moroccan tiles, Tadelakt walls (polished plaster), wooden ceilings, colourful rugs, cushions and fabrics, and wooden or iron furniture and features.

Each room and suite is air-conditioned with satellite TV, a safe, phone and internet access. The suites offer greater space and comfort - junior suites are 40m2, while the senior suites are 60m2.

The chef prepares delicious traditional Moroccan cuisine as well as European dishes, with much of the fresh produce taken from their own organic gardens.  Breakfast and dinner are included, and lunch is always available.  Meals are served in the restaurant, on the terrace or in the lounge bar area.  Dar Zitoune is fully licensed.
