Dar Zemora - Briefly

Situated in the ancient palm groves outside of Marrakech, the Dar Zemora is a peaceful paradise just 3 miles from the madness of the city centre.   With a wonderfully inviting swimming pool set in three acres of rose-filled gardens, bursting with a cornucopia of palm trees, colourful bougainvillea, bamboo, fruit and olive trees, you can always find a quite spot to catch up on your reading or snoozing.  The rooms and are luxuriously comfortable, the staff some of the best in Marrakech, and the food completely delicious – once here you will find it very hard to tear yourself away for the proffered souking and sightseeing a mere 10 minute drive from this sanctuary.

Dar Zemora - Completely

This beautiful Villa comprises of both old and contemporary design, with three comfortable sitting rooms leading off the central Dome room - perfect in the winter for an aperitif or special party.  The Casablanca room is still and fresh during the summer months, the airy Fan room aptly named after its shape is ideal for relaxing during the day or for taking pre-dinner drinks on a summers evening, and the Omar room has well-stuffed armchairs and sofas and a large welcoming fire in the winter.  The homely Library with comfortable leather armchairs has Wi-fi Internet access, and an inviting roaring open fire in the winter.

Set in the beautifully manicured gardens, the large free-flowing swimming pool is solar heated during the winter months, and is surrounded by an abundance of teak, comfortably cushioned sun beds, with towels, sun hats and parasols provided.  The gardens are wonderfully fragrant, and provide quiet areas and little pathways for a short walk.  There is also a croquet lawn, bird terrace and vegetable and herb garden.

The six rooms and suites (three of each) are all individually decorated with traditional Moroccan finishes and discreet mod cons, and are wonderfully comfortable.  The suites have their own private terrace, fireplace and one has a private pool.  One of the rooms also has a fireplace, and all have double aspect views of the gardens.

Dar Zemora has two main cooks – Ahmina with her speciality of a 6 course tasting menu four nights of the week, and Jamila who offers a four course Moroccan dinner the other three nights.  Fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in the garden are used in the kitchen, breakfast and afternoon tea with homemade cake are included, and a two course light lunch is also available daily by prior arrangement.  Dar Zemora is licensed, and offers a very good Moroccan wine list as well as spirits and lager.

Guests can eat wherever they would like, in their suite or on their private terrace, or a romantic table for two can be arranged on the Bird terrace or by the pool.  Alternatively, situated off the Casablanca sitting room there is a deep red walled dining room designed for candlelit dining, with its own terrace which overlooks the lily pond.

Spa

A separate building in the grounds houses the treatment room for massages, facial, manicures, pedicures etc.  The Hammam is reached by a flight of stairs from the treatment room.  Hammam and spa treatments must be booked in advance.
