Dar Anebar - Briefly
The Riad Dar Anebar is situated in the far north-eastern corner of Fes Medina, just inside the city walls, away from the noisy market streets of the souks. It is close to the huge Sofitel Palais Jamai Hotel, but is a world away in its ambience. The young owner, Abdelhamid and his brother Ahmed, strive to make their guests feel like part of the family, and their warmth, friendliness and generosity will touch your heart.
Dar Anebar - Completely
Dar Anebar has an interesting history, belonging to the Guessous family since 1936 when the Arabs were driven out of Spain, and the family arrived in Fes from Melia. In 1963 the family moved to Casablanca after the grandfather died, and the house was sold.
Abdelhamid– one of the Guessous grandchildren - and his wife Nadia decided to regain the house, and succeeded in doing so in 2000. After a protracted period of renovation the Dar Anebar emerged, refined and magnificent with its new visage. The Marrakchi style of the colourful Tadelakt walls work well with the glazed Zelige tiles typical of Fes, and with Antique furniture and artefacts, beautiful fabrics, it is truly a beauty to behold.
There are three comfortable salons off the main ground floor courtyard with its bubbling fountain in the centre, each decorated in a different colour, and all used for dining. The roof terrace offers fantastic views over the city, and with great food and the uninterrupted warmth and friendliness of Ahmed and his staff, you will wish you could stay longer.
