Amanjena
Amanjena - Briefly
The Amanjena, meaning ‘peaceful paradise’, is a luxury hotel, 15-minutes from the ancient pink walled city of Marrakech on the Ouarzazate road, next to Amelkis Golf course. It truly is a paradise, with stunning views of the snow capped mountains, luscious gardens, beautiful fish-filled reflection pools, pink pise walls inspired by Marrakech, and green tiled roofs the colour of Islam. As you step through the doors its ambience of calm serenity embraces you and its beauty astounds you. The staff are friendly and efficient, the service impeccable and attention to detail exceptional, as you would expect for an Aman resort hotel.
Amanjena - Completely
The Amanjena is the first luxury Aman resort on the African continent, and has proved completely worthy of its name. You will not find the traditional ‘laidback’ Moroccan service here, but you will find their sincere warmth and genuine hospitality.
The resort is stunningly beautiful, the Tadelakt walls and arches, green roofs and magnificent palm trees mirrored throughout in the still waters of the vast central bassin and adjoining canals. The terraces and courtyards are adorned with marble fountains, olive, orange and lemon trees and colourful bougainvilleas.
There is a two-storey library with a balcony running around the perimeter of the second floor, fringed by Moucharabieh-screened railings, and boutique selling a variety of local handcrafted products, Moroccan art, Jewellery, lanterns, pottery and even antiques.
The stunning outdoor swimming pool measures 33 metres, and is heated during the winter months. It is finished with glittering green zelige tiles, and surrounded by sumptuous chaise lounges, shady umbrellas, and has a separate shallow pool.

The 32 spacious, rose coloured private pavilions have been exquisitely designed, eight have private pools (Pavilion Piscine), and all have high domed ceilings, sunken wood burning fires, and terraces with pillared gazebos and cozy, cushioned seating areas. There are a further 6 two-storey Maisons with two bedrooms, courtyard with heated pool, and two of the Maisons come with a garden and butler (Maison Jardins). There is also a larger Al-hamra Maison, with an extensive main Pavilion, 36 square metre heated pool and butler service.
There are three Restaurants at the Amanjena. The main Restaurant opens for dinner and specialises in authentic Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine. It has impressive arches with onyx pillars, Moucharabieh screens (carved wooden lattice-work grilles) at the tops of the arches, a central scalloped onyx fountain and honey coloured walls chiselled with Berber designs.
The Thai Restaurant is situated beside the swimming pool, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its coral coloured Tadelakt walls are decorated with old Moroccan leather horse saddles, and natural light streams in through the banks of glass doors.
The Pool terrace is open for breakfast and lunch, and overlooks the pool and adjacent golf course.
Guests can also enjoy private dining in their room, or an intimate dinner accompanied by local musicians can be arranged in the Caidal tent situated in the olive grove.
The bar is ideal for casual dining, pre-dinner drinks and post dinner nightcaps. Amanjena is fully licensed. No meals are included unless a special package is on offer.
